    Hi Prem,
You're most welcome and I knew the taste of the thayirsatham, cause i liked it very much. By the way, you're wrong by comparing me with the Bill Gates; with compared to him i'm like an ant (zero). Thanks for remaining me about Bill Gates. Also make a note about Shankar q.

Raju, it was my pleasure to know about u. Good(bad) luck for ur future! cause willing to spend money on film making...

erm...I suppose u've 2 use whatever talent u might have & make a try 4 it. I don't want 2 sit back & think in 20,30,40 yrs time & rue could I've made a film. As 4 spending money I don't have any so may be the web page could sponsor the film. (I should b so lucky!!).
I do tend to get Balu Mahendra & Mahendran mixed up. 'Poottada Pookkal', 'Mullum malarum' r my fav's but I can only see them on videos. Help this confusion out for me , please. Recently I've enjoyed 'POrkaalam' & other Cheran films but really I'm concentrating on Films 4 my course & essays. What does Freshman year mean?.

    Hi Raju,
All the best for ur new movie. Just try to be like Manirathnam and not like, hmmm I forgot the guy's name, u know the guy who takes movies with baby Shalini and a monkey and a dog and a snake! Well, just dont become another guy like him.
Anyway, Columbus has only a few hundred Tamil makkals, lets say, around 250-300. Inga Tamil movies once a month thaan poduran. Video kadais vera fulla Gujjus own panra naala, Tamil padamum kammiyaa thaan irukku. Irukkarathu ellam 'Enga ooru Poovaatha', 'Pakkathu ooru Maariyaatha' nu kadi padamsa irukku.

    Sathya,
I guess that "favourite" director of urs is one Mr. Rama narayanan.

  • From: Raju (@ pccrnt078.lgu.ac.uk) on: Thu Dec 17 11:23:06 EST 1998

If Columbus/Ontario has only 250/300 Tamilians, could u please tell me how many of them turn up to see the monthly screening. Also u must know each other. even though there must be over 40,000+ Tamilians in london I don't know any one of them.I did put my name down for some Tamil association but they never did contact me.U all know how the saying goes so repeat after me..." thamizhan endru sollada, thalai nimmirdu nillada"!!!

  • From: Sumi (@ 142.107.55.62) on: Thu Dec 17 12:03:16 EST 1998

    Sathya,
That guy was director Faazil. Can u tell me the difference b/w Kadallukku Mariyathai & Bombay? which one has good theme (care, love, responsibilities, etc) about family? Don't force Raju to be someone and let him to be his own. Anyway, all movies r based on families and sentimentals, so do Rama Narayanan. Sorry to say but i have no choice, learn to like ur family.

  • From: prem (@ 203.197.130.51) on: Thu Dec 17 15:58:19 EST 1998

    hi sathya,

u forgot the duets of baby shalini with the monkeys, dogs, elephants, et all. dont tell me u dont get videos of films like 'enga ooru muniyandi','Super pondati loafer purusha',jadikku etha mudi'.....by the way did u listen to sumi, learn to live with dogs,snakes,monkeys....(be loving and caring to them). no pun intended.

    Prem,
u'r mistaken me, only i asked Sathya to learn to like his family members but i don't know that ur surrounded with animals(nature). It was my first time to hearing that tamil ppl like animals and treating them as their family members. wow what a change in our culture!, r we heading to 21st century...? guys just for fun, take it easy, ok.

  • From: prem (@ 203.197.131.96) on: Fri Dec 18 12:13:55 EST 1998

    hi sumi

life, sure is a jungle!!!! & for god's sake what has culture got to do with treating animals as family members??? by the way, whats ur idea of the 21st century -having a big family & of course 15 childrens???my god, how ru going to manage it???

    cheers!!
    prem.

  • From: Sumi (@ 142.107.55.62) on: Fri Dec 18 13:41:31 EST 1998

    prem,
by culture i mean that we have certain way of treating(separate) animals from human, all the sudden someone (must be u) think the home as a jungle and blah...there is no wonder or hard to managing...? (more than ur amount); simply tie them with rope around their neck, how is it...?

I walked out of 'bombay' at the BFI/ NFT bc MR had sent a 1hr 20min version rather than the 3hr version.I wasn't worried bc I'd seen it on the big screen twice 2 experience the wide screen etc..
i haven't seen 'KAD..MARI' yet though I didn't like the original malayalam ending. I'm going through Vijay's films chronologically and am enjoying them.Obviously I do have influences and I did get Q. Tarantino to sign my copy of the screenplay'TRUE ROMANCE' which he wrote. It's one of my all time fav.
Uni shuts today 4 three weeks.See u all in 3 weeks.

    also..Aruvi, if u r reading this I think u r a brave person 2 suggest a 'IR bashers'page. I know it was a joke but I also fully agree with ur reasons.

    Hi Raju,
Atleast 200 people come to watch a Tamil movie in Columbus. I know a lot of them, but mostly bachelors. Very few single Tamil girls live here. Sigh!

  • From: Sathya (@ fw.metamor-its.com) on: Tue Dec 22 17:02:46 EST 1998

Hi Sumi, That director was Rama Narayanan. Where did Fazil come into the picture? BTW I do like Fazil's movies a lot. I do
love and respect family values. Movies that depict those values in an entertaining and logical way(like Kadhalukku mariyaathai,
Mouna Raagam) sure do have my support. But Annan Ram Narayanan avargal spins tales about creatures with tails dancing
and crying with homo sapiens, and tries to force some sort of illogical 'pseudo' family sentiment in his movies. I feel his movies
are full of crap. I mean, in ur daily life, do u ever see a monkey riding on a dog's back and going to a temple to
pray for a kid(who talks like a 60 year old, instead of a 6 year old)?

  • From: Sathya (@ fw.metamor-its.com) on: Tue Dec 22 17:07:09 EST 1998

    Hi prem,
Thanx for supporting me in that animal/human discussion. The fact is Ram Narayanan is a low-budget director with highly illogical ideas, and his movies are sure a pain in the butt. Ya, the horde of movies that u mentioned must be available in Columbus. So where are u from?

  • From: Sathya (@ fw.metamor-its.com) on: Tue Dec 22 17:10:01 EST 1998

    Hi everybody,
Since I am new to this, I would appreciate it a lot if u lemme know where you all are from, what u do, etc.
I am a 24 year old, Tamil boy from Madurai. I came to the USA on June, 1997. Any other makkals from Madurai or Columbus,OH here?

  • From: Raju (@ pcchnt253.lgu.ac.uk) on: Wed Dec 23 07:43:51 EST 1998

sathya, when I sked for no:s going to see a tamil movie It was more out of curiosity than male/female background. Bc if there are only 350+ tamilians & u get 200/show that is a good %.
Where in Madurai r u from. I've traced my Grandma to Periyakulam(near Theni, Vaththalakundu etc..).I've been to Jallikkattu at Azhaganalloor and know very close people at Vannar Chandu off south Masi Street. I also know MiniPriya, Cinipriya,Shiva, chindamani, Regal etc...!!
Don't reply to me till the 5th of Jan bc I'm off University till then.
HAPPY XMAS AND NEW YEAR TO ALL AT THIS PAGE FROM LONDON.
