dear friends,
vaali, born in 1931, entered cine field in 1958, he still holds the first place. many songs with totally different situations, the 72 year young& evergreen poet only could make. here are few songs for eg.:
1a) adutthaathu ambujathai - film 'edhirneechal' - a typical brahmin language
1b) vaa vaadhiyaare voottaande - film 'bommalaattam' - a typical madras tamil
2a) maadhavi pon mayilaal - film 'iru malargal' - a typical senthamizh kavithai
2b) yeh theeye azhagiya theeye - film 'minnale' - a typical kavithai mixed with english words
3a) janani janani - film 'thaai mookaambikai' - a typical religious song
3b) un madhamaa en madhaamaa - film 'raman abdhulla' - a typical secular song which does not future any particular religion but love
4a) kanaakkaanum kangal mella - film 'agni saatchi' - a superb song a husband narrates to his wife
4b) malligai en mannan mayangum - film 'dheerga sumangali' - a superb song a wife praising her husband
5a) sirikkindaal indru sirikkindraal - film 'nallavan vaazhvaan' - his very first song to MGR (during 1960)
5b) kalakkuven kalakkuven - film 'dhum' - his latest hit to a not-even-27 yrs old-chimbu
6a) nee enge en ninaivugal ange - film 'mannippu' - with old music director s.m.subbiah naidu
6b) enna idhu enna idhu - film 'nala dhamayanthi' - latest intro music director ramesh vinayakam
7a) uravu endroru sol irundhaal - film 'idhayatthil nee' - a superb typical pathos song which tells the life's enjoyable&miserable moments

Dear Friends,
Poet Vaazhi has himself acknowledged that cine field and his litrerary work are two different eyes for him. One doesn't need to bash his film crap (excuse me..)like Mukkala Mukkabala, Nethu Rathiri Yamma, etc. because those were at the demands of the producer/composer.
The real genius of Vaazhi comes out on demand & the demand seems to be dwindling. In the book Paandavar boomi, here's a beautiful verse. He brings out a situation between the daughter of asura/rakshasha guru - Sukkrachariyar & son of deva guru.
Amarargalin Guru - Vizhaylan (Guru is also referred as Vizhayalan)
Asurargalin Guru - Velli (Sukkarachariyar is also reffered as Velli)
Vizhayalanukku oru Magan - Gnaiyiru Pol (Gnaiyiru - refers to Sun)
Vellikku oru Magal - Thingal Pol (thingal refers to Moon)
See the beauty, he is bringing out the days of the week & comparing it superbly with the radiance of the people. The word play is un matchable. I will bring out more such incidents - if you wish.
