After the success of ‘Autograph’, it has become impossible to get director Cheran’s call sheets.
With that film, he has not only proved that he is a good director, but he has also shown to the world what a fine actor he is. Since then, the number of producers lining up to cast him as the hero in their films has greatly increased.
Meanwhile, Cheran is confused by the offers that are pouring in. He is having a tough time to be very selective about his roles. That was how he had accepted director Samudirakani’s film ‘Ganesha’.
Since most of the offers are for playing the hero, he has announced that he is a director in his heart and he acts only if the situation demands him to. SS Krishnakanth has now approached him now with an offer. Even before ‘Autograph’ was released, Indian Theatres Productions’ Krishnakanth had signed Cheran up with an advance of Rs 3 Crores. The agreement stipulated that Cheran direct a film for Indian Theatre Productions on a first copy basis. So, Cheran is now going to direct a film for them.
Cheran seems to be the perfect replacement for Ramarajan when it comes to playing village-based heroes. So, directors who specialize in that subject are trying their best to rope in Cheran for their films.
