Sun TV's special guest tomorrow is BD. Can someone post any interesting points she makes (if any) in the program?

Eden & NagaS,
"I read someone speaking in the book release function of IR that he drove Hindi out of TN without any riot:-("
I always doubted it whenever I read it. This sounds as though the people of Tamil Nadu went crazy after Hindi songs not wanting to hear Tamil songs! Could you substantiate it, please???

Bhava not knowing Tamil is not a blunder as long as she can sing Tamil properly, of which I have not a very good idea. Whether she learns it or not, that's totally upto her. Again, speaking a language (or wanting to become conversant with it) depends on what you grow up speaking when you are a kid not withstanding where the kid's father came from - whether Sangam valartha Madurai or somewhere near it. Bhava nalla English pesi vaLaranumnu avangaLai nalla English pesara school-a avanga parents padikka vechirukkalaam illaiyaa:))

Naan piRakkaRathukku 2 years munnaaleeyee IR entered TFM, So I have no way of knowing / proving it :-)
But Looking @ my fathers' (and others in his age group) liking towards hindhi songs (He doesn't understand even a single sentence in Hindi, But He loves watching hindi movies, listening to Hindi songs), I feel there is some truth in this statement,

That statement was made by VAli I think. (You can count on his experience). Well, my interpretation was : On IR driving out Hindi: Yes I strongly agree on HFM losing it's status with the advent of IR, which can be expressed like that.
I stand by that because I have personally known a no. of `record player' owners who had only Hindi LPs filled up in their cup boards. Raja changed them all with his iLamai oonjalAdukiRathu and no looking back after that!
The snob of `I don't listen to TFM..I like only RDB' kinds disappered instantly with his advent. I know a number of classmates / collegemates who progressively stopped bothering about HFM.
In addition, his structure of music (esp folk-WCM fusion) was so different from contemporary HFM (unlike the days of many of his predecessors who mostly resembled / reproduced HFM with some exceptions of carnatic songs). I would even go the extent of saying that IR was single handedly instrumental in making TFM a separate musical genre, i.e. making it exclusive and very different from HFM, MFM, TeFM & BoneyM:-) (All IMHO. Come to Kerala and you can see most people listening to MFM 50% & HFM 50% despite the demigod status of KJY. NOT SO IN TN DURING THE IR REGIME!)
I think none of our DFers watched the Bhava VT program probably, no postings on that?

If Bhavadharini does not read/write tamil, it is really a disgrace. That too, born and brought up in Madras (I hv got a few friends from rosary metric kind of schools who can read tamil, if not write it), not knowing (read/write) is not at all justifiable. In one tamil channel in UK, I watched YSR's interview and I was really shocked at his Tamil accent (I think my English colleagues can spell tamil names/cities better than him)

I too am in UK and we subscribe to all the Tamil channels. I have never seen a YSR interview on tv. And that too I know that YSR has never given an interview on TV ever, not in India or anywhere else. I think you have mixed YSR with KR as KR gave many interviews on TV. And also because I have spoken to YSR regarding his music and he speaks perfect tamil

Well, he was in an english nation:-)
YSR has given interviews on TV in India, earliest being around the time he was introduced into the industry.

YSR's interview was in CeeITV an year back if my memory goes right and I think it is in that Yuhi Sethu's program (I dont remember the name of that program). In fact, we have not subscribed to any tamil channels other than this and I do not watch TV much as well. So, no confusion from my side I'd say. Aruvi, May be that could hv been the reason...

For all those guys who feel disgraced about BD not knowing Tamil, why do you care? She is not claiming to become a tamil poet.
Even if she does, it is her right. Eventually any under performing artist will be thrown out by the people, if they don't like them. So, u do not have to feel DISGRACED about she not knowing Tamil.
By the way, how do you feel about those thousands of 'padikkadha' village people, who could not write or read Tamil? Going to send them out of TamilNadu, ah?
It is upto everybody's individual environment why they know or do not know to Read/Write Tamil.
It may be they are poor or just wanted to learn other langauages only. It is basically because, well if you dig deep into Indian Law, you will find the answer, which is FREEDOM.
So don't try to poke into someone's freedom and don't have to feel DISGRACED about her.
Well even if she does anything wrong, it is only up to their family to feel disgraced about her and not you.
Rombadhaan naatai pathi kavalai paatu disgrace aagitaangal..!!!
If you worry too much about Tamil Nadu, mudhalil maligai kadaiyil 'porul' vaangum bodhu billodu vaangungal and have it as a start.
Voting rights irundhal, election day annaikku paduthukkinu TV paarkaamal, poi vottu poadungal. Idhai pannaley poadhum, naadu vurupadum.

Can anybody tell me, how old is BD? I heard somewhere that she is elder to YSR, but that is not possible because YSR is 22 and therefor she would have to be at least 24. She would be married if she was that age right guys? Or am I mistaken about YSR's age?
