We know not every song given by any MD, is famous or differently pleasing. Can we list some of such songs and ask the question why they are not famous. Does that show a sign of weakness of MDs?

  well we can list many many songs atleast a hundred of them from IR's era that were not famous and went into the "unknown/never heard" category. As to why they were not famous we need to ask ARR. He is the only one who can give some insight to this.

  Neenga sollurathu thappu.ARR oda most rotten album "Pudhiya Mannargal" was a sooper dooper failure.But I think only ARR has maintained a cool success rate at the present moment.

  Let us start listing possible reasons:
  
  Since, the calibre of MD is set forth through many good quality songs, the factors which could have been affecting, to produce failure songs, can be,
  
  1) Lack of time, to come out with good tune due to pressure from producers(can I say, in ARR case, "Oh Oh Kicku Erudae..." which is clearly reuse of the song from Iruvar. In IR's case, there are many songs which are reused, "Naan Sirithal Deepavali.." and "Pari Jatha Poovae...". But, there are bad tunes which is not even variation from their own good tunes. The problem here may be that they have not really composed those songs.)
  
  2) Financial, Family and other critisizing problems.

  Let me try to "nondify" the problem.
  
  Yarumey, eppovumey hits kodukkama mudiyadhu.
  Becos, hits enbadhu depends on people.
  
  I like a song which lolluparty may not like.
  And the converse is also true.
  
  All the MDs when they compose any song, they want that to be a super hit. But "produceroda" podhadha kalam, andha pattu "oothikidhu".
  
  Even, Beethoven, Bach, Syama Sasthiri, Thiagaraja and otehr greats had these problems.
  Apperpatta persirungalukkey indha problemna, namma IR and ARR are "podiyans" of those "yentharo maghanu bavos".
  Some musician might like one krithi of Thiagaraja while some others wont like it due to some reasons.
  
  So, naan enna solla varenna, taste differs .
  Concisely reasons are :
  1. Taste differs
  2. Moods of MD while composing those "not hits"
  3. Money matters
  4. several other politics

  Go See "Analyze This". You've got De Niro's disease. ARR gives music with no soul- a 'Rough' kinda music that attracts only people of your calibre. IR has given failure songs, agreed. But he used to compose 3-5 songs a day out of which couple of them used to be bad( there are exceptions like Chinna thambi for which all the songs were composed in a day). But your ARR "THINKS". Thinks for 4-5 months for a song and even then given lots of failure songs. Eg: Love Birds, Pavithra or even ESK and ofcourse Mothu and now, Padayappa.

  1) Viagara... Niagara....
  
  Go and listen to "Lala Rasputin.... He is the preacher....". And listen to some of the recent DJ songs.... you will understand ;-((
  
  There is another song, which is ditto in the style of "Mexican" style music.
  
  Where is the originality?
  
  Vanga Sandaikku.... But, since people are not aware of such music here in North Ame., they may be current hits. But, wait for four months. They would become what we see in the title of this thread.

  Dear Mr.Preacher We appreciate your sincere efforts taken in all your analysis. But the worst fact that u've forgotten is that, the so called failures listed by you have been failures of the movie and not the songs. A good MD can create good songs only. If ha also takes responsibity for the failure of a movie...there's no need for a guy called "Director" in any film. So the next time you want to pull someone for fight...think twice whether you're healthy enough to stand in our own legs.   Definitely Analyser!! I've an example for you. 'Uzhavan' has some decent songs, but the songs didn't become popular due to the failure of the movie. When the 'Kaathal Desam' released, the songs weren't popular at all. Anantha vikatan reported that people in Film Industry joked about 'moozhkaatha shipaa friend shipaa'. Then movie became a hit movie, so does the songs.

  That way I can quote many films which were failure but songs were quite a hit. Well! Example many Mohan movies. In fact, just because of IR songs the movie could stand for long. Just look at the past a bit, before concluding. Since there are many factors(as much as the size of the population, because that is the level you can go to decide whether the song is a hit or not), the probability of nice song being ignored because of the failure of the movie, is very low. Because, people can listen to Radio to listen to the song, not necessarily in a cassette or going to the movie theatre.

  Let me put this way all mega music directors have flop songs or unheard. But we have to see that when you get in to creativity there is a chance of getting bad songs also. Ilayaraja has many bad songs too. If you see the amount of pictures he handled was too large. Even he is a human who can do mistakes. So take the good from each creators. And leave the bad ones ok.

  Really!, can some one list some "bad" songs by Raja.Popular may not be , but never bad, if the tune wasn't top10 stuff , the music was definitely grand. Out of the 150 movies in telugu I have never know him to give a bad song. Its too bad that people in TFM have degraded to the level of trying to find which songs of IR are bad. Some guy said he can find atleast hundred ,how? how can an MD giving "hundred" bad songs still be in the business.
  
  any way this topic is supposed to be for any MD, why only IR or ARR. MSV, KVM fans where art thou.
