Born to Sri Radhakrishnan and Smt Dr. Harini (an Ayurvedic physician and singer), Unnikrishnan started learning Carnatic Music at the age of twelve from V.L. Seshadri and subsequently from Sangeetha Kalanidhi Dr. S Ramanathan. After the latter's demise, he continues his training under Smt Savithri Sathyamurthy and Calcutta Sri K S Krishnamurthy. He has also attended a special workshop for six months on 'Veena Dhanammal Bani', under Sangeetha Kalanidhi Smt. T. Brinda and Sangeetha Kalanidhi T. Viswanathan.
Unnikrishnnan holds degree in Commerce and did General Law and Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations. Apart from being a Music enthusiast, his also has a passion for Cricket. He has played for the Tamilnadu Senior Division League as a Top Order Batsman and Wicket keeper. He took up a job with Parry's Confectionery Ltd as an executive and later gave it up too for the sake of Music which he has now taken up full time. He has travelled widely giving concerts all over India, Middle-East, USA, South America, UK, Australia and New Zealand.
Unnikrishnan has over 10 albums - cassettes and CDs to his credit and has sung over 200 film songs in various Indian languages.
He is an 'A' Grade Artiste of the All India Radio.
He has contributed much to the cause of music by associating himself with Youth Association for Classical Music and also served as its Executive Committee Member in the initial years.
He is a member of the Madras Cricket Club and Life member of the Tamilnadu Cricket Association.
Unnikrishnan's wife Priya is a Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam Dancer. Little son Vasudev Krishna (about a year old) seems musically inclined too.

He is 'A' grade Artiste in AIR Simultaneously, his fame blazed in the film world as a play back singer for his renderings in two Tamil Films. 'Kaadalan' and Pavitra' which earned him the 'National Award' for 1994.
He has made extensive concert tours to USA, South Africa, UAE, Australia and New Zealand.
A B.Com graduate with Post graduate diploma in personnel Management, he is also a keen Sportsman. His passionate cricketing skills as Wicket keeper-Batsman were sacrificed at the Altar of Carnatic Music - no Regrets!

He is the singer who finally ended the monopoly of PSusheela and SJanaki in TFM. However, some of his songs show traces of Male Voice, if you listen carefully enough. This is in noway a handicap.

Who the hell PSFan are you? If you like bla bla... PS, don't tell any think about the best singer "Unnikrishnan" and he didn't end the monopoly of PS.Also he has male voice.OK.
