Is there a shop in Chennai that can record
songs on a CD. I have a list of songs(Illayaraja if I might add) that I want to burn on CDs.
If there is such a place, how is the quality ?
Can I have the name of the shop(s)?
Is there any online site that take a list of such songs, and would mail me the recorded CD ?
Thanks in advance for your replies ..

I am really willing to pay the right/appropriate
price for having my own collection of songs
in a CD. I do not want to pirate songs.
BTW, how is recording songs in a CD for 'private'
use different from taping a movie from TV and watching it at our home ? I want to emphahsize very strongly on the word 'private' here.
If I had the resources and time to buy a CD burner
and had all the songs(in CD or cassette) that I needed to burn on the CD, I would do it myself. Would that be pirating too ?
I almost always buy CDs that are original(unless I am cheated). Now in most of the CDs, I like on an average of about 3 songs. I have to search for the right track in the CD for the songs I like, and then listen to another CD.
All I want to do by having my own 'custom' CD is to have a collection of songs where I do not want to change tracks.
Is there a shop in Chennai that is legally allowed to do this ? If not, is there a shop on the web that can legally do this for me ?

Raja has scored music for 780 films approx.
For how many of these films can you buy the original cassettes ?
Good luck trying to find even recent films like dEvadhai / guru / yAthrA mozhi.
I would guess if you really searched you can buy original cassettes/CDs for about 250-300 films. You can buy original cassettes of MSV's hit films (sivaji/mgr starrers) - there must be hundreds of films of msv / kvm for which original cassettes are just not available.
These recording shops are doing a great service by keeping this music alive.
If you want old music there is no other way but to go the recording shops or copy it from friends who have the recording.
I have many recent original CDs of raja - most of them come coupled with some junk movie with no credits nothing. Why is this type of crime being committed on the customers ?

Recently an American Engineer visited us and I wanted to present him a IR CD and searched around the shops at Palakkad...yuck, what a pity, not anything worthwhile...I was almost tempted to copy my HTNI CD and give him...but I resisted the temptation due to this copyright thing..
That finally I managed to get hold of a CD from an obscure shop, one with KM (& some junk from `uLavuththuRai' by some ABC composer) is another story...
...Yes, it's a fact that one finds it too difficult here to buy originals of what you like...often, they're not available or they carry total trash along with what you like..
