In recent past, we saw mudalvan (which shankar said one of the best from rahman to him) score being dubbed as poor.
HJ's ahh-hah hoo-hoo Minnale, is being downplayed totaly. reviews are giving just a oneliner for vaseegara!.
Though I not realy impresses with these two in tamil, I dont doubt thier quality. They were realy good by tamil or hindi standards!.
But why its treated so badly? Muje kuch kehana hai which has just routine songs! and its being compared as great in a RTHDM (hindi minnale) music review!.
Now I seriously doubt are we hyping tamil music? or hindi guys dont understand it?
I think its bit of both.
Same happened to few of agathiyan's movies, music for hey ram, etc etc.

Maybe it's just different tastes. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai which was much raved about in Hindi sounded like a bore to me.
Maybe after being translated, some songs don't sound that good anymore. eg.Taal sounded much much better in Hindi and Jeans sounded much much better in Tamil.

Was Hey Ram remade?
Virasat did quite well in Hindi, wat wit Anu Malik pretty much lifting IR's tunes.
And there were alot of other Tamil songs tat did pretty well in Hindi, esp wit ARR music, tho i'm not very clear on whether they were remade/dubbed. But you have to admit hfm fans have abit of a different taste from tfm fans.
Other than tat, i don't think tat we are over-hyping tamil music. Most listeners' priority is to jus listen to watever tat's good and moviemakers priority is to make more $ if it seems possible, but it's not like tfm fans r trying hard to convince hfm fans to buy tamil music or vice-versa.
