The song Yen Mael ... I think is based on Kapi. The song Kannukku Mai Azhagu was also composed after the lyrics were written.I heard that Gulzar or Vairamuthu was inspired by an Arabic poem that classified love into seven stages.

Thanks,Hrishikesh for the info.
Does anyone like Minnale from May Madham,or is it just me?Anyway the whole score is pretty extraordinary, pity the movie flopped.I've seen worse love stories which went on to be hugely successful.

I do love that song, "Minnale" very much. S.P.B's rendition, lyrics and the orchestration(especially the violins) were a fabulous combination. For some reason, I like this one better than Kadhal Rojavae.
From: Aakash (@ 188.8.131.52) on: Fri Aug 28 17:14:54 EDT 1998
I was mesmerized by "Minnale" for over a month when I bought the tape. This song is an excellent example of Rahman's dynamite orchestration. The violin piece in the second interlude is simply brilliant!!!! Does anyone know who played the violin?? Was it L Subramanium??

Can anyone let me know the site containing "uyirum neeyae" song by UK in the film Pavithra. I have noticed some people mentioning this song in their top 3 list of ARR's songs. I haven't listened to this song till now (this movie didn't get dubbed into Telugu I guess!!). Please provide me with the pointers....

IMO ARR's best three songs songs are as follows
1.Hai rabba (Jeans)
UnniK has sung it very well. The BGM is very good.
2.Thiya thiya (Uyire)
The coriography is very good.
3.Mustafa mustafa (Kadhal desam)
I like it because of its BGM
Piease tell the ragas for the above mentioned three sons.
From: munniappan (@ netview.com.my) on: Thu Sep 3 23:40:09 EDT 1998
purnima i dont see any "real" reason "y" "u"
want to know the ragas "4" those songs.
The fact is those songs are just total commercial
"jimbos" from A.R.R.nothing great
*p/s. i think "u" need "2" get "2" know whats the real meaning ofBGM is.........and i think "u" and GATSBY do have a good taste haaaa.....
From: Geetha (@ gatekeeper.oracle.co.uk) on: Fri Sep 4 10:45:21 EDT 1998
Munniappan: Chill Maaaannnnn.....Everyone is allowed to have their own opinion(Purnima/Gatsby and EVERYONE in the DF), please don't 'Put them down' for thier taste in music. Music is a purely personal decision, where different people percieve it differently.
I think when Purnima refers to BGM, she means the Background music of the song itself, as opposed to our taken meaning of Background Score in the movie....Am I right Purnima?
As for the Ragams, Thaiyya is a mixture of Madhyamavathi and Sri(The Ghandharam appears), Musthafa and Hai Rabbha also have similar touches, it's hard to place them exactly.

Gatsby/Muni: Sorry about that, I didn't actually read your list at the time, as it was a while back. Here's my view on your list....
Madrasa suthi paarka - May Madham
Gopala Gopala - Kadalan
Ethuku Pondatti - Kizhaku Seemaiyile
All very beaty songs, which induce a happy mood in one. The Madrasa song was picturised very well and enjoyable in the film, Gopala was a real fun song, unfortunately, the words were quite pollutable(never sung on stage, as the girl singers refused to do so). I haven't heard the last one much, but it I believe it also consisted of some pollutable lyrics, anyhow, it was a good beat.
ANDREW: WHAT ARE YOU GOING ON ABOUT? PLEASE KEEP YOUR COMMENTS TO YOURSELF OR GO ELSEWHERE. THIS FORUM IS FOR TFM AND SHARING VIEWS NOT FOR COMMENTS LIKE YOURS. PLESE MIND YOUR LANGUAGE. ALWAYS REMEMBER THIS IS BEING READ BY PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD, WHAT KIND OF IMPRESSION OF YOURSELF ARE YOU TRYING TO SET?!?!? Malaysians are not known to be RUDE, like you, so please don't give the world a bad impression of a great nation.
